Welcome back to another Buy Bitch! Before I get to the virtual unboxing, here are some good things I read this week. First, this edition of The Small Bow, a newsletter that definitely deserves your money. Second, this Vice piece on how to stop shopping at Amazon (I’m still trying). Lastly, this Strategist piece about how humidifiers work was a real roller coaster for me because 1) The Wirecutter rec sucks and I love reading/talking about this, 2) The humidifier I wont shut up about is recommended in this post and I love being right, 3) I learned I have to use distilled water?? Gonna sit with this.
Please tell your friends about this newsletter and feel free to reply or DM me on Instagram with questions/suggestions!
What I bought this month:
This fleece for Archie, who absolutely hates wearing it. But look how cute he looks!
A diner mug that says Bong Water on it because I’m 12.
Really good, high-waisted sweatpants (one and two) and this great PJ set from H&M. The pajamas are out of stock but you can sign up for restock emails. The sweatpants are great and wash really well, but the second style I got runs big so size down at least one size.
For all my pilates-heads out there: I bought a folding reformer and I love it! After a year of trying on and off to get into the mat version of pilates, I said fuck it and bought a folding reformer because I deserve the chance to do leg circles! (The exact one I got appears to be out of stock everywhere but Amazon right now.) Aeropilates makes many folding reformers and you can see them all here. Mine is flat on the ground, not on the stand, because the stand doesn’t fold. It is fairly easy to fold up and roll out of the way but I keep mine out most of the time. I could honestly write pages about this thing bc I love it so much!
This one doesn’t really count because it’s not here yet but yesterday at 5:55pm, Jill, who you will hear from again in a few minutes, slacked me the following link:
Exactly a year ago, Jill and I went to the Sandy Liang pop up in Williamsburg and tried on every jacket in the store (I’m not kidding). I’d say we were both dangerously close to impulse buying $550 fleeces. Now here we are, a year later, buying the same jackets we tried on for less than half the price thanks to Jill’s eagle eye. The ones we got are now sold out but I got a checkered one and Jill got this denim/fleece combo. Loyal readers of this newsletter might point to past issues and bring up my jacket buying problem, and to those I say: thank you, I know, mind your own business, I love you.
I was on my fifth or sixth tour of looking at every sheet set online when the shopping gods smiled upon me and Aeflie did a 50% off bedding sale. I got this doodle set and this one that makes me feel like a toddler but I love it. To be honest, if Aelfie made her actual toddler prints available on full-sized sheets I’d buy them.
I bought these beautiful espresso mugs after one of my fun 4am wake-ups a few weeks ago. They arrived today and I can’t wait to use them!
This Skinmedica scar cream for my lingering breast reduction scars. The price is steep but I got it during a 15% off sale and the reviews are great. I just started using it today but will followup with actual thoughts next month.
Remember that stained glass light bulb I didn’t buy last time? I got it and it’s fine.
I finally found a rug! On RUGS DOT COM of all places! This site has a resale section, which is where I bought this beauty:
INTERMISSION! Abercrombie is…back…possibly? After receiving an alarming amount of links to suspiciously cute clothes from my friend Jill, I insisted she share with all of you:
Here’s a question: Is Abercrombie Good now? Look, I didn’t want this for me either but if there’s one thing we can all take away from the last year it’s that anything can happen. This midi dress looks expensive (thick sweater material = $$) and is a far cry from the 2” inseam shorts and problematic t-shirts of the Abercrombie of the Aughts. These are like a sweatpant version of the Kordal Alva pants (They used to have sample sales very close to my apartment until they moved to Greenpoint). Moving on to SO. MANY. GOOD. BODYSUITS and some super high rise jeans ala Levi’s Ribcage. There’s also great waffle knit bralettes and lounge pants and ribbed crop tops, leggings, and shorts. Gonna let the tabs marinate for a bit so I can reflect on my decisions and possibly my morals.
Do you feel A WAY about a product or shop or anything? Share with the class! Next month’s guest graf will be about Nuface :)
Closed tabs
This Sandy Liang-adjacent dog fleece that would have cost $95 in Archie’s size.
This ACTUAL Sandy Liang fleece for dogs. Sandy’s got a big presence in this month’s newsletter…
I decided I had enough masks and did not get the new Baggu prints. (PS they make kids masks now!)
This giant cardigan is following me around Instagram again. They’re wearing me down. It looks so comfortable!
This stock pot is so pretty!
Charlotte Stone is at it again…
The shop I wrote about last time just did a big drop. Some highlights: This cropped top, these beautiful sandals and a great jumpsuit.
Empties:
Honestly at this point I just need to set up a monthly bulk subscription for these two Lush bath bombs.
I am a known Missha stan and just reordered more Time Revolution masks. These are insanely good sheet masks (comparable to SK-II imo!) and they are on sale for $4.20 (niiice) why are you still reading this GO GET SOME.
This is not yet an empty but I’ve almost made it to the bottom of my Laneige lip mask. This container has been going strong for like a year and a half. Please clap.
I will leave you with this upsetting TikTok.
