How to look cool while sweating
Plus: Apartment DIYs and an actually good dog food storage solution
Happy tomato month! Here’s what’s happened since I last invaded your inbox:
Josh and I moved in together! It’s been great and furnishing our apartment has been a really fun design challenge. We’ve been doing some fun stuff, all of which you’ll hear about soon if you haven’t already seen it on The Gram.
We recently got back from an amazing trip to Spain and Portugal. For this trip, Josh guest-starred in my monthly Dwell column when we decided that checked bags are actually good. Despite my deep, deep respect for the carry-on bag super packers of TikTok…that just wont ever be me.
And now, the main event. Let’s get to the shopping!
What I bought
Yamazaki pet food storage container: I love this thing. It holds an entire 20-pound bag of dog food and has an air-tight lid, meaning I can dump the food in and not have to mess with the awful ziplock on the bag. It comes in different sizes and has a pretty low profile. We have ours in the pantry but if this had to live out in the open I wouldn’t be mad at it.
Floof cream and paw wipes: We’ve been cycling through different paw wipes for Archie and really like these from Floof. My biggest beef with wipes of any kind is the containers usually suck, and you have to dig to get one out. Archies paws have never been cleaner or smoother.
Tapas dress: The instagram ads got me. You know I love a food print! I think this whole collection is really, really cute.
Ilana Kohn skort dress: I had a pretty rough Q1 and went hard on the self care, which involved a facial and a trip to the Ilana Kohn store on Orchard St. I tried on almost every piece of their linen line and ended up buying this skort dress, which has been my go-to weekend outfit. My favorite thing about this dress is that, like most Ilana Kohn pieces, its got a little waist elastic on the back.
Reike Nen sandals: My friend and fellow size-11-foot-haver Lauren showed me her new sandals a few weeks ago. I loved them so much I bought my own pair! They’re very comfortable and wearable with almost any outfit. Note: These run one size big. I always get an 11/EU 41 and bought a 40 in these.
5 pairs of pants on one hanger?? There’s not much to say about these except: They’re great!
Onekind Solar Drops: Ok I really love the Solardrops. I’ve tried Supergoop’s “Glowscreen” in the past and just found it to be way too shiny on my skin. The Solardrops are somehow glowy and matte at the same time. It’s very visible on my skin as I’m applying but quickly settles in. There’s no tint, just a glow. I often will wear just and some concealer under my eyes and it looks great. It’s also non-comedogenic, which surprised me. I’ve been using it for almost 3 months with no breakouts.
THE CUTEST LINT ROLLER: You all know I’m a freak for Staff and the silly little faces they print on everything they make. Their latest release is very important to me because of Archie’s incessant shedding. We’ve got lint rollers laying around different parts of the apartment, but this one sits on a shelf by the door so we can get one last roll before we head out. It’s washable, something I thought was “fake” but quickly learned is in fact real.
It’s “sweat dress” season
It’s getting hotter and more humid every day. During a recent visit to Everlane to restock on my favorite underwear, I noticed a bunch of new basic dresses that are perfect to sweat in:
I bought the scoop neck and shift dress and love them. They don’t need special laundry care and are nice and light. They also look great with basically any shoes. Get them in black and no one can see you sweat :)
Tabs I bravely closed
Cold Picnic washable rug collection!!!!
The only reason I closed this tab is because this dress is not yet available for purchase but BELIEVE ME it will be mine as soon as it is.
Someone buy this bag in green or white.
I’ve entered my annual “should I get that knit bathing suit” mode.
Please look at this rug.
Would I wear these tomato earrings?
There’s some great stuff in the Mara Hoffman sample sale but I wont be partaking because I’m saving myself for the second link on this list.
