It’s been a while! Total transparency: I’m turning 30 tomorrow and having a complete meltdown about it. I’m not looking for sympathy, here. I know half of the over-30’s subscribed to this newsletter are rolling their eyes and the other half will tell me “my 30s are way better than my 20s!!!!” I hear this, I get this and I’m very close to believing it’s true. But I have like 6 hours left to be a petulant child in a dramatic spiral that SURPRISE SURPRISE hits my wallet.
Forward this to your friends and tell them to click this button. Maybe throw in a “she’s not usually like this, I swear.”
Ok lets do this.
H&M Linen Duvet Cover
As I’ve mentioned several times in this newsletter I’ve been drooling over the Brooklinen linen duvet cover in yellow for a while. It was a limited edition summer color and I hemmed and hawed for months and now it’s sold out. It’s fine! It was too expensive anyway! Then I found this one by Deiji, an Australian brand that also makes this incredible linen pajama sets, which is slightly cheaper than the Brooklinen one but it felt like too big of a risk. If I didn’t like the color in person I’d have to ship it back to Australia. So imagine my surprise when I found the same damn thing in H&M’s home section!! I ordered the “dark yellow” and was not thrilled with the color in my tiny bedroom. It was too much and made me realize that a nice crisp white is the best way to go for my space. So I swapped it for the white one. It’s incredibly soft and well-priced.
P.S. Do not sleep on the H&M home section! Look at these tiny, clear espresso mugs I got! (They have big ones too)
DIY Photobooth Kit
I wanted to do something a little ~*extra*~ for my birthday party so I did some research and put together a photobooth complete with a ring light! First I got a 30-day license for SimpleBooth, an iPad app that mimics the fancy photobooths you see at weddings and Brand Activations. Then I got a ring light with an iPad holder and a cheap light stand.
Patio Umbrella
I got this umbrella for my outdoor table. I was a little drunk when I ordered it on Amazon (bad!) and forgot to get a base to screw it into. Very cool!! I also got Jenga (???), beer pong essentials and this outdoor folding table.
Weird But Good Pants @ Uniqlo
These weird-ass pants are made of fancy sweatshirt material. They have pockets and a zipper. They are a confusing shape but also A HIT. I wore them yesterday (cuffed) with a black crop top and got a lot of compliments. They’re super comfortable and remind me of my Ilana Kohn favs (these are on sale right now and an extra 20% off with code SALEONSALE fyi). In the same Uniqlo trip I got this ribbed pencil skirt that I love. $15!!!
ReNew Underwear @ Everlane
I used some leftover Everlane credit and got three pairs of this high waisted situation and a bralette. I really love them, but think I should have sized down in the bralette. It stretches significantly and very quickly. I also got my first pair of Everlane jeans and am happy to say they live up to the hype.
Intermission: Why is corduroy back???
The last time corduroy was popular was when I was in 6th grade. I hadn’t yet stumbled upon Dude Ranch by Blink 182, an album that would change my life and wardrobe. I was wearing clothing from Limited Too, including a duster (‘member those??) and baby blue FLARED corduroy pants. I don’t want to go back to a time before I knew Mark Hoppus existed. Get these “cords” outta my face!!!
Excited to start next week’s email with: “I’ve reconsidered corduroy.”
What I didn’t buy
This printed dress from H&M. I loved it but opted for the pencil skirt in the same print instead. I also tried on this dress from the same collection. The prints are great but I was trying to be good! (There are a ton of these in stock at the Herald Square store.)
I did not buy this jersey skirt at Uniqlo but I see myself going back for it. It feels like fancy sweatshirt material and it’s something you can wear well into winter.
I added Missha essence to my cart but waiting because I hate ordering single, small things on Amazon. I use this every morning and night. It’s a great dupe for SKII’s super expensive essence.
Did you know you can buy a Tiny House on Amazon? Just a thought!
This jacket is so beautiful and perfect it makes me want to die!!! Fuck!!!
I did not buy the Deiji pajama set but I MIGHT. If I do, just make sure they bury me in it.
