Is it bad to buy all new dishes and glassware for Thanksgiving?
I hope the answer is NO because I already did it!
It has been an entire month since my last Buy Bitch email and that’s because I’ve been busy getting a whole new job! I willm for the first and last time in my life, channel Jeb! Bush and say: PLEASE CLAP. All this change gave me a surge of confidence that led to me making a deranged offer to my family…Which means I’m hosting thanksgiving.
I’m coping with the stress the way I usually do, but avoiding the main issue and focusing instead on something else, like the dinnerware. Or should I say….#tablescape?
It all started because I couldn’t find a table cloth I liked. I felt like I needed a fun table cloth because I have a bunch of mismatched clear dinner plates. I found this one but it seemed slightly off, and this one was nice but too plain. Thats when I decided the plates were the problem, and my journey began.
Round One: Anthropologie
The lace-effect metallic plates are great. They’re still sorta clear (which I love) but seem fancy. I have a few dessert plates in different colors from this collection, which I picked up a few years ago in the sale section of Anthropologie. I ultimately did not get these dinner plates, but they were a serious contender! (Also they’re on sale right now)
I fell in love with these pearly, expensive-ass dishes. But then I read the description: hand-wash only, not microwave safe. I rarely ever use my microwave, but I need to be able to put dishes in the dishwasher. Plus, when something is hand-wash only, that usually means the finish will wear off, and probably very quickly! NEXT!
I briefly considered these matte-effect plates but yiiiiikes those reviews! No thanks!
Round Two: West Elm
I found these salad plates at West Elm and everything clicked. They were on sale (plus an extra 30% off! We LOVE to see it!) and I loved the dinner plates they were styled with in the second image, so I got them too.
Then I thought, why stop there! All new plates and same old scratched up glasses? There’s a sale! (Im broken, I know!) So I got two sizes from this set: The stemless wine glasses (all the way on the right) and the highball glasses (all the way on the left).
That said…does anyone have a couple of folding chairs I can borrow? Because I cannot allow myself to buy a pair of these. OR CAN I??
Other stuff I’ve purchased recently
I finally got a pair of real “daily” winter boots. These Docs are great, warm and great for rain/snow. They are so comfortable, too!
I rebought the Skindeva hyaluronic acid serum. This is great and not expensive. The air is DRY now, make sure you’re moisturizing!!!
I got a second box of these great snail eye gels. I keep them in the fridge and use them a few times per week. They are extra good when I have a headache or a hangover and they noticeably plump up my under-eye area.
I finally invested in a spa headband for masks and for showers where I’m not washing my hair. Im embarrassed it took me this long, tbh.
I did not buy this recently but dug it out of storage this week: MY HUMIDIFIER! Do yourself a favor and put one of these in every room. Your skin and sinuses and plants will thank you.
What I didn’t buy
I did not buy this new Everlane jumpsuit, but I will be trying it on at the Williamsburg store tomorrow because it is conveniently located a few blocks away from my office. Same with this alpaca v-neck sweater.
I think about this skirt a lot. That’s all I will say.
I am so happy this coat, aptly named the Duvet Coat, exists. Someone should buy it and let me try it on.
I talked myself out of these earrings that I LOVE.
Ok that’s it for now!! Forward this email to a friend, tell them to subscribe!
For next week, tell me if you are interested in a winter coat guide and/or an office holiday party guide (or anything else). The velvet, sparkly dresses have started rolling in and as someone who is NOT ALLOWED to buy anything new for holiday parties this season….I need something or someone to focus this energy on. BYE!
