WELCOME back to Buy Bitch! Some news: For variety’s sake, I’m taking submissions. Do you feel very strongly about a product? Reply to this email and I’ll include it in the next newsletter! I am also taking requests. As you’ll see below, I can help solve certain shopping dilemmas. Reply with yours and I’ll see if I can help!
I’m helping
I want to share a thing I put together for Amber, who needed help accessorizing a very good dress for a wedding. She said “…but any suggestions for an amazing bag and/or earrings and/or something else that make my outfit look more black tie but are also cheap I cannot tell you how tight ass I am veronica, your newsletter makes me feel ill reading it.”
I love my fans!!!
Here’s what I put together for her (note: the shoe in the pic is just a color stand-in for the actual shoes she’s wearing):
(Links: Earrings, bag, bracelet. I also suggested a belt: one and two)
Here’s what Amber bought, in her own words:
“Ok so I got the bag and it is perfect and I myself am not a bag person even remotely (like literally I don’t think I've bought any sort of non-every day bag in.......... I cannot remember, but like literally a decade... bags are not just my thing) BUT in this case the bag totally makes the outfit and was therefore perfect inspo for everything else.
I liked the earrings shape you suggested but figured if i was gonna spend $40 on earrings I would rather spend $40 on highly discounted earrings. [Ed. Note: FAIR!]
Plus my friend (the bride) saw my suggested outfit (like I literally texted her the image you put together) and she was like ‘be prepared everyone will be in gowns, this is a cool outfit but just go a lil more formal w styling.’
So I got these for $38 thanks to a 25% off at Shopbop.
I was not even considering a belt until you suggested it (my brain was like beep beep dress already has a belt beep) and I have ordered the cheap silver Amazon one you suggested and THEN SOMEHOW ordered another two (what did you do to me, this is all your fault, I will probably return all three of them. I will definitely return at least two) [Ed. Note: SORRY!]
This silver vintage one from Etsy ($20), and this one cause it was an extra 25% off in the Shopbop sale (BUT STILL $50 WHAT WAS I THINKING) altho I am worried there will be too much pink. I was drunk on the 25% off sale ending in 10 mins.”
I admire Amber’s self control. This is the reason she will one day own a home and I will not. (P.S. SUBSCRIBE TO HER NEWSLETTER ABOUT STOCKS)
What I Bought This Week
I was extremely good!! This week I bought these earrings during a 50% off sale at Bona Drag. I loved them when I saw them at the Paloma Wool pop up last month but I didn’t $76 love them! BTW if you’re into any of these brands (click designers), I recommend subscribing to Bona Drag’s newsletter. They don’t email too much and often do big flash sales, even on beloved No. 6 clogs :)
I got more Duraflame logs since we’re about to enter peak fire pit season. This is the fire pit (*ahem* chiminea) I have and I love it.
I got a couple of things during the Urban Outfitters beauty sale. A second Slip pillowcase (i’ve been waiting for this to go on sale! They wash well and really help with bedhead and frizziness!) and pimple patches (yes, they work).
What I Didn’t Buy
Denim is hard for me, mostly because my thighs, butt and waist are all different sizes and because I’m tall. Madewell jeans have been consistently good AND I love that you can trade in literally any pair of jeans from any store and get $20 off a new pair. They released a new cut this week, sort of like a high rise straight leg? It’s available in petite, reg and TALL so I’m going to try them on and see what’s up. I have to try on first because Madewell’s sizing is all over the place, making it impossible to buy their jeans online.
I did not buy this skirt (because excuse me why is it $98???) but I absolutely love it. I’d happily be 6 months late to the leopard print skirt trend when this goes on sale in a few weeks.
I did not buy these heels from Soludos but I probably will next week. Archie chewed my go-to black heels that I’ve had for YEARS and I’ve spent the last 6 months or so looking for a proper replacement.
I surprisingly didn’t get anything at the Reformation sale but this wrap dress (in either color) is great and so is this midi dress.
What is happening here??
I’m wrapping up this week’s newsletter with a few of my “favorite” things from Target’s deranged Halloween collection, which they’re calling Hide & EEK. I would have killed to be in the room for this brainstorming session because, clearly, it was a “no idea is a bad idea” situation.
Halloween Body Inflatable - $14.99
This thing is 6 feet tall (long?) and apparently “perfect for use in a body bag, coffin, or dressed up for a great prop.” Who can say no to that?
26” Halloween Creepy Baby Prop - $16.39
My favorite thing about this product is the VERY specific price of $16.39 because $16.40 would be entirely too much!!
Rock Out Skeleton Candle Holder Right Hand White - $7
Great gift for that person in your life who is inexplicably very into Pearl Jam.
Animated DJ Skeleton Decorative Halloween Prop - $99
This one is truly upsetting.
18" Halloween Bag of Mice with Sound - $24.80
The title says mice, the description says RATS??? Target?? Hello??
Several Anatomically Incorrect Animal Skeletons - $20
I hate all of these but would be DELIGHTED to see them in someone’s home.
Halloween Up From Down Under Skeleton - $14.79
I call this one death by banana peel. Don’t worry about not laughing at this joke, I’m laughing enough for the both of us :)
Spooky Pumpkins Orange 3pk - $29.99
The beautiful pumpkins you Instagrammed yourself picking are going to end up like this anyway. Might as well get ahead of it and eliminate the part where you put some gloves on, hold your breath and toss the slimy mess FKA “pumpkin” into a garbage bag.
Skull Pineapple Halloween Decoration - $15
This lights up, unfortunately.
