WeLc0Me!! Here’s all the stuff I bought and some other stuff I passed on this week. Next week I’ll tell you about my never-ending quest to find a dining table I like that isn’t $4000 :)
THIS WEEK: Sample sales, a “new” fruity seltzer, dog food and 1000 mascaras.
Clothing
The Rachel Comey spring sample sale was this week and my ass was in line at 8:50am. I got a pair of jeans (pictured below), a pair of white zip-front pants that I sadly can’t find online, this incredible bag and sandals from this season!!!??? I spent $575, which sounds insane (it is!), but I’ve been pretty good about buying things I’ll wear for a long time, versus spending the same amount of money on a bunch of stuff from Zara that 1) never fits right and 2) I’ll wear exactly once and sell on Poshmark.
(The shirt I’m wearing above is merch from The Reductress.)
I did some light bathing suit shopping this week on ASOS. I got this leopard top and bottom. Just for shits and giggles, I ordered one of ASOS’s crinkly “one size” bathing suits that’s supposed to stretch to fit almost everyone. I was skeptical but this top and this bottom fit me. The stretchiness is impressive and it’s somehow not see-through. We’ll see how it does when it’s wet. The full stretchy line, including one-pieces and tops for fuller busts, is here.
Home
My main towels are these giant white bath sheets from Target, which I love. They wash really well and have stayed super soft. I wanted something ~fun~ as an alternate and have had my eye on the Dusen Dusen towels for a while. Their “sample sale” was this week. It was less of a sample sale and more like…slightly discounted products. I felt tricked, but ended up getting the towels anyway. I mixed and matched patterns and got one in the Stair pattern and one in the Flip pattern. Even on sale, they were more expensive than my Target towels but I like looking at them so…
At the same sale I lucked out and managed to grab a very discounted sample of the sold out Salt Flats rug by Cold Picnic. I haven’t decided where this will go yet but might just hang it up in my living room. Feels wrong to put her on the floor!!
Trader Joe’s always gets me with the random stuff they display in the cashier lines. This week it was their “seltzer with a splash”. I tried the lemon ginger and blood orange. Both were good but lemon ginger was the winner. During the same trip I stopped at Target (I have no self control at City Point) and bought this candle :)
Dog Stuff
I’ve been meaning to switch Archie’s food for a while. I currently feed him Stella & Chewy’s patties, which is great for Butt Problems, but it’s just getting too expensive. He eats 8 of those patties per day and we’re blowing through these bags too quickly. I used to feed him kibble, but his gas was deadly. My dog walker says if you wet the kibble it releases the air trapped in the food which should prevent room-clearing farts. I got a small bag of Instinct Original to try out so we’ll see how this goes.
Beauty
I ran out of my usual conditioner and decided to try Kristen Ess’s purple conditioner (I already have the shampoo) to keep my hair from getting brassy. I’m a Kristen Ess stan. Everything I’ve tried from her Target line is great and it’s very affordable. I feel VERY strongly about her dry shampoo and beach spray, they’re both great and just as good as their much more expensive counterparts from Oribe.
I restocked on hyaluronic acid this week. I’ve been using this $13 one from Skin Deva and it’s great. I do 2-3 drops during my morning and night routine. A few months ago, I got an incredible facial at Sofie Pavitt studio with Cali (who now works out of her own studio. DM her!) and she recommended I start using it. She actually completely overhauled my routine and ended up saving me money. I was using too many products I didn’t need and in the wrong order -_-
<<< My skincare routine is, in this order: CeraVe hydrating cleanser, Manyo hyaluronic acid toner, Missha Essence (it’s just as good as SKII and it’s half the price), Skin Deva serum, Noto face oil, Drunk Elephant eye cream, Belif moisturizer at night & Neutrogena hydro boost sunscreen for daytime. >>>
What I Didn’t Buy // Someone Should Buy This // HELP ME!!!
I did not buy ANYTHING at the Sephora sale, which I regret because I’m running out of Olaplex 3, which keeps my hair from falling out/breaking while I keep bleaching it to death, and that tiny bottle is expensive. Also, please clap because I canceled my Sephora Play subscription. The samples had been piling up and I just couldn’t take it anymore. If you want one or a thousand mascaras, hit me up!
This leopard print skirt from Farm Rio. They just opened up a store on Prince Street and it’s so beautiful. Someone should buy it and/or this banana skirt, though.
This outdoor bench from IKEA. I already have outdoor furniture but I like this weird little guy. Someone should buy it and invite me over to sit on it!
I did not buy a dusty pink leather pillow at the Cold Picnic sale. I can’t find the pillow online but just need to share that I held it for a while, then put it down and walked away.
This cast iron skillet has been in my Amazon cart for a long time. I’m trying to be the kind of person who cooks at home. It’s happening…slowly. I don’t have a cast iron skillet, or a cast iron anything. Do I need this? Can someone come over, survey my cabinets, and tell me what basics a normal adult needs??
I absolutely will not buy this $528 dress from Whit but I just really like looking at it. Here’s a picture of Samin Nosrat wearing it. She’s the best!!
