My third annual list of things I bought for myself while shopping for others

The good news is I’ve put a serious dent in my Christmas shopping list. The bad news is that for every one thing I bought for someone else I bought 1-3 for myself. Please do me a favor and just ignore any typos. I wrote this, skimmed it, hit “schedule” and just hoped for the best. Let’s get into it!

What I bought:

Shark hair dryer: My hair dryer gave out after 10 years of loyal service. I gave in to the power of TikTok and bought the Shark FlexStyle, which is a not-as-expensive version of the Dyson AirWrap. The FlexStyle comes in two pre-set bundles with different attachments: one for straight hair and one for curly hair, which is the one I bought. You can also build your own bundle here. I know I’m comparing it to a 10 year old hair dryer but I’m completely obsessed with this thing. I’m able to blow out my whole head under 10 minutes with the oval brush (or just my bangs in about 30 seconds) and my hair will be shiny for several days. The diffuser attachment is adjustable to accommodate different hair lengths, making it easier to give my roots a jump start when I want air-dried waves. The curling attachments are great too but will take some getting used to since the technique is a bit different than using a curling iron. If you’re due for an upgrade, I highly recommend the shark. I cannot shut up about it!

Dieux moisturizer and serum: I love Dieux’s Instant Angel moisturizer and just reordered in their new jumbo size. The smaller bottle lasted me two months and I’m hoping to get double that mileage from this bigger bottle. It’s got such a nice texture and is really hydrating without feeling greasy. I rebought their Deliverance serum too. (Tip: Use BEKAH20 for 20% off at checkout!)

Mary-Kate and Ash tray: This ash tray is hilarious and amazing and sold out. More are coming soon, according to THNK1994’s instagram!

A rug on super sale: I will probably regret buying a white rug. Who do I think I am? But it was an extra 50% off the sale price so why not.

Chains for my eventual charm necklace: I got the Alexandria and Monica chains while they were half off last week. They’re the first step to recreating the $6,000 charm necklace Simona Tabasco wears in The White Lotus.

Another great pair of Madewell jeans: These jeans are high waisted, a little loose in the thigh and tapered at the ankle…aka perfect. And they’re an extra 50% off right now. Run don’t walk!

JCrew slip dress: I got this simple black slip dress on sale at JCrew and it’s great to layer with t-shirts and sweaters. It’s something I know I’ll have in my closet for a long time. (It’s also extremely on sale right now in the tall and petite lengths)

Surprise, surprise. Boots from Intentionally Blank: These boots were my first Black Friday purchase because I am normal and sane and get text alerts from IB.

New bathroom shelf: I’ve been looking for an inexpensive bathroom storage solution and this Ikea shelf checked every box. It’s got a simple frame and comes with the option of a two-tier swivel shelf which has honestly changed my life. The shelf holds so much stuff and makes it so much easier to see and access all my stuff. I have zero counter space in the bathroom so this was a real game-changer for me.

• Still thinking about neon cashmere sweater.

• Hmm I see someone has been inspired by Mara Hoffman.

• I love a wiggly earring.

• Boy Smells candles are $19 right now, and the whole site is 20% off. Since WHEN do they make body wash?

• Oversized faux leather jacket. I’m not allowed to buy any more jackets/coats
