It’s been a while and I’ve been bad! Here we go!
OK so I normally wouldn’t get this kind of personal in this venue, but this is important context for the two extremely unreasonable purchases I made this year. I have a pretty rocky relationship with a certain family member, and this person tends to give me an unreasonable amount of money for Christmas (this year it was $500) that I like to spend wildly. This year, that meant silk pajamas and No. 6 clog boots.
Let’s start with the pajamas. I fell victim to yet another Instagram brand: Lunya. I went to their store in Williamsburg and tried on almost all of their pajamas and landed on these in light grey. They’re amazing and I love them. And yes, they are actually washable! They give you a little net bag to wash them in (cold) and then you lay them flat to dry. Would I have pulled the trigger on this so quickly if it had been “my own money?” Probably not! But I will say it’s nice to have fancy pajamas!
Ok…the boots. Months ago I mentioned in this very newsletter that I’d been drooling over these clog boots. Notice the absurd $420 price tag. Give yourself a moment to say “nice” out loud because the law says we must react this way to 420 and 69. Now let me tell you how I randomly found these on sale for less than half of the original price on Garmentory?? A random boutique in Canada was trying to get rid of their last pair…in my size. I let it sit for a day and decided WHY NOT! I refreshed the UPS tracking page for these boots hourly until they arrived. I sprinted home the day I got the delivery confirmation and practically slipped into my apartment with the box. They’re…..beautiful and I love them. I’ve worn them out a handful of times after some intense at-home breaking in. They are SO warm and make me look ready to kick someone’s ass.
Things I bought for myself when I should have been Christmas shopping for others, plus the damage I did in January:
A croissant lamp. It was on a resale page and I couldn’t help myself.
A wool scarf (neon yellow)
A pair of woven “stools” from IKEA. I saw these at a friend’s apartment in LA and went to go buy them as soon as I got back to NY. These are great as a side table (they stack), as stools, and as food/drink trays for floor lounging. They’re also great for babies/toddlers, my friends’ baby was using one of these to prop himself up and stand :)
Three more pairs of my favorite underwear.
This wrap bodysuit that I have worn at least once a week since it arrived in mid December. It’s so soft and flattering I’m considering getting a second one in another color. Pictured below with some amazing pants I got during the Rachel Comey holiday sale:
Two shoe racks for my living room closet. I only ended up needing one so if anyone’s interested in the extra one let me know!
A second pair of extremely soft leggings from ASOS.
This floor lamp made me feel at peace with the half of my living room that has felt incomplete for over a year. (see below)
Please clap, I didn’t buy any of this stuff
These cashmere sweatpants. I think I’m set in the fancy loungewear department. (PSA: Everything on this site is on sale!!)
This cool-looking lamp that did NOT look cool in person.
I successfully made it through the holiday party season without buying a single new dress! Big!!
Look at this giant sweater. Look at this other giant sweater.
I love these jeans…
I did not buy gloves even though I feel like I’ve looked at every pair of gloves online. I just want a pair of gloves that I can reliably use my phone with that don’t have different colored fingertips. Do these exist? Please advise!!
THATS IT! TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS!
