Women of New York got brutally owned by this Instagram account about the overnight popularity of leopard print midi skirts. It’s like the Amazon winter coat, it came out of nowhere and completely took over. Every year, leopard print finds its way into whatever’s in style, and every year I think: “I’m not going to buy a leopard print thing because it will feel dated next year.” This has been happening for at least 10 years. THIS was finally my year. I had this one saved and was gonna get it….but now I don’t know! I also don’t know about about not knowing! What’s worse, buying something literally every other person has or NOT buying it for that same reason?
I joked that the leopard print midi skirt is the new Outdoor Voices tote, but I gotta say...I love my Outdoor Voices tote! Even if I do wear it with the logo facing in :)
Clothing
I’ve been trying not to buy a ton of clothes but the Memorial Day sales hit me hard and I caved at Aritzia. I got this top in black and in white (I already own it in green and I love it) and this wrap skirt in black. My justification? The tops are great because they’ve got the loose fit of a t-shirt but they’re perfectly cropped and waist-defining. The skirt is replacing a similar one from ASOS I wore basically all last spring and summer and ended up getting rid of because it was too worn and pilled to keep wearing.
Amazon launched some new clothing and accessory lines, including an intimates line called Mae. Their lace underwear had a bunch of great reviews comparing them to Hanky Panky so I bought a set to try out. They’re not as good but they’re close enough, and the price is great. FYI: Lot’s of reviewers said to size up, and they were right.
ALSO this is huge: I’ve been searching for a robe ever since I binged Sex Education (WATCH THIS SHOW) and I finally found one at a store called Red Pearl in Williamsburg. The brand is Handprint, and they’re sold online here.
Beauty
I ran out of eye cream this week and decided to try something new. For the last 6ish months I’ve been using the Drunk Elephant eye cream, which helped with my massive dark circles. I took this rec from Rio Viera Newton at The Strategist, who writes about her dark circles a lot, though I gotta say, she doesn’t seem to actually have them? Or maybe these eye creams work better on her than they do on me, who knows? In January, she wrote about the Ole Henriksen eye cream and how it was even better than the Drunk Elephant one, so I’m going to try it. We’ll see! I also bought this Tarte tinted moisturizer. I’ve been using a sample of it for a bit and decided to commit since Garnier rudely discontinued their amazing bb cream in my shade. If you have fair skin definitely try this. The bottle lasts forever and it’s so lightweight! They sell it at most drug stores. I used the same bottle for over a year.
Home
It’s backyard season, meaning it’s mosquito season. I got these mosquito repelling lanterns last summer and they actually work! Each one is supposed to cover 15 feet. I bought two last year and an extra one last week. I also re-upped on the refills.
What I didn’t buy/What’s in the cart:
I’ve been eyeing Stasher bags but they seem expensive. Im considering trying these, which are significantly cheaper and have good reviews. Unless one of you can tell me that the Stasher ones are worth the extra $$$!
This Reformation dress has been in an open tab for a month. I love the cut and I’m obsessed with the print but it’s sold out in my size...unless I go get it at the store. (If any of you go to the Reformation sample sale and see this dress there in a size 8 please text me and I will venmo you!!)
I need a new bluetooth speaker and I don’t know where to start. If you love yours please send me links!
I am up to my ears in dog hair. I’m constantly vacuuming and I feel like my Roomba knockoff isn’t cutting it anymore. I’ve had this Roomba on my “save for later” list on Amazon but the $270 price tag is freaking me out.
